The Lebanese Kataeb Party issued a sharp rebuke against Hezbollah, accusing the group of unleashing a wave of insults and threats against anyone who opposes to its policies, particularly targeting the Kataeb Party and its leader. In a statement released by its Media Department, the Kataeb Party condemned Hezbollah’s actions, citing a dangerous escalation of rhetoric and violence that poses a significant threat to the country.
"After dragging the country into a destructive and futile war, Hezbollah has unleashed its lesser figures from its chorus of slur to attack any voice opposing its disastrous choices, particularly targeting the Kataeb Party and its leader," the statement read.
"After these individuals failed in their mission and collapsed in the face of public opinion, it appears that the militia has decided to escalate its level of insults," the statement continued.
Particularly alarming to the Kataeb Party was the return of former MP Nawaf Al-Moussawi to public appearances, despite being previously sidelined by Hezbollah for making controversial statements that embarrassed the group's leadership.
"It appears that the militia has decided to bring Nawaf Al-Moussawi back to the screens after a period of punishment for his previous shameful statements that put his leadership in an awkward position," the statement added. "Al-Moussawi has returned with his vulgar rhetoric, this time resorting to intimidation, death threats, and glorification of violence and crime."
The party also referenced Al-Moussawi's involvement in violent incidents, stating that this behavior is unsurprising from someone like him, "especially given his record of attempted murder and shooting at civilians, much like his party, infamous for assassinations and officially accused by the highest international courts."
A recurring theme in Al-Moussawi's attacks is his obsession with Bachir Gemayel, Lebanon's president-elect who was assassinated in 1982.
"It is clear he has an obsession with the name Bachir Gemayel, whom he continually references in his toxic speeches and appearances," the Kataeb Party noted.
The statement from the Kataeb Party made it clear that the party remains committed to defending Lebanon’s sovereignty, regardless of the violent threats coming from Hezbollah.
"If anyone deserves trial and execution for the crime of murdering and destroying an entire nation, it is him, his party, and his ally who killed Bashir, believing that by assassinating him they could eliminate the state project and erase the history of a resistance that defended Lebanon exclusively," the statement asserted. "Little did they know that the legacy of Bashir has been and will always remain the pride of the Kataeb Party, and no one can undermine or tarnish it or its symbols."
In conclusion, the Kataeb Party called for justice and accountability, noting that individuals like Al-Moussawi and Hezbollah pose a grave danger to Lebanon’s future.
"If there is any logic and justice, Al-Moussawi and those like him should be imprisoned and removed from society for the immense danger they pose to Lebanon and the Lebanese people—a threat that cannot be easily overlooked," the party emphasized.
Despite the escalating threats, the Kataeb Party reaffirmed its commitment to stand against Hezbollah’s intimidation tactics and to protect Lebanon’s national interests and sovereignty.
