Kataeb Party Says Lebanon on Brink of Total Collapse

The Kataeb Party’s Political Bureau held its weekly meeting chaired by Kataeb Leader MP Samy Gemayel. After the meeting, the following statement was issued:

1-The Kataeb Political Bureau believed that Lebanon was rapidly heading towards total collapse in its financial, military, security, judicial, and administrative institutions, which threatens to lead to the State’s total disintegration and its complete fall into the hands of Hezbollah.

It also considered that Hezbollah sought to hold control over the country by adopting a policy of gradual site shutdowns, by changing equations, and by imposing its presidential candidate under the threat of undermining all the balance upon which Lebanon was built.

The Kataeb Political Bureau warned of the danger of continuing in this approach, saying that it places the country in front of unconstitutional options from "necessary legislation" in a parliament that has turned into an electoral body, to "necessary appointments" in a government that is not entitled to meet, to the innovation of choosing a president through dialogue, and a prime minister before being named by the deputies, and determining the ministerial statement before forming the government in a blatant departure from all principles and rules.

It also called for the swift election a president in accordance with the Constitution and returning Lebanon to the roots of the democratic game, deeming it only way to get the country out of its unending crises.

2- The Kataeb Party refused to rely on Hezbollah or any party that is not official nor authorized by law or constitution to determine the fate of any inch of the Lebanese land, saying that the Lebanese are united in their commitment to their State.
