Kataeb Party Launches International Outreach to Garner Support for Lebanese Government

The Kataeb Party has launched a series of international contacts to rally support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, following directives from party leader Samy Gemayel and in line with recent government positions emphasizing the restoration of State authority over all Lebanese territory.

The initiative, led by the party’s Foreign Affairs Department, involved outreach to foreign embassies in Lebanon and political partners around the world, including networks such as the International Democrat Union and the European People’s Party.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Affairs Department, the goal of these contacts is to bolster the Lebanese government’s stance and encourage friendly nations and political parties to support Lebanon in navigating its current challenges.

The statement also noted engagement with European and international political leaders who expressed support for Lebanon and endorsed the government’s position. The discussions emphasized the importance of preventing any military action outside state authority, confining decisions over war and peace to legitimate institutions, and ensuring that weapons remain under the exclusive control of the Lebanese State.

The statement also emphasized opposition to Iranian interference in Lebanese affairs, particularly regarding the recent conflict, and called for an end to attacks on Lebanese territory. It further stressed the need to support the government in any political negotiation aimed at restoring full Lebanese sovereignty and securing the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the country.
