A delegation from the Kataeb party on Thursday paid a solidarity visit to Archbishop Moussa Hage.
“I am honoured to represent the Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel who is out of the country and accompanying the party’s delegation to visit Archbishop Hage and convery the party’s refusal and anger towards his arrest,” Vice President of the Kataeb party Georges Jreij said after the meeting.
“The police regime will not succeed nor will it work with Bkerke that wrote on behalf of the Lebanese the State of Greater Lebanon. No submissive judge nor anyone who represents him will have the honor of attacking the Archbishop of Peace and Goodness, or raising suspicions about his well-known nature, origine, and humanitarian message,” he noted.
“As the Kataeb leader tweeted, the era of oppression and justice has ended and arbitrary accusations related to collaborations with the Israeli enemy are rejected. No one will affect Archbishop Moussa Hage and his ilk after today,” he pointed out.
Jreij considered the visit as an occasion for the party to readdress the two bills previously submitted and to call for their approval in the next parliamentarty session, namely:
The proposal for a general amnesty law for the crimes stipulated in Articles 273 to 298 of the Penal Code and related to felonies against the external security of the state. This proposal was submitted by the Kataeb party in 8/24/2011, allowing the safe return of the forcibly deported Lebanese to Israel,
and the proposed law submitted on August 23, 2016 aiming to amend Military Judiciary Law No. 24 dated 4/13/1968, to ensure a just and efficient judiciary.
Jreij pointed out that there was no response to these proposals with the issuance of Law No. 194/2011 dealing with the situation of Lebanese citizens.
“No implementing decrees were issued to implement the provisions of this law. No atmosphere of trust was established to return the forcibly expelled Lebanese to their state whose sovereignty and security should not be threatened. Any state that refuses to receive its people and take care of its citizens will remain a vexatious regime and will not be a rule of law,” he concluded.
The delegation included Vice President of the Kataeb party Georges Jreij, Lawmaker Elias Hankach, Former Economy Minister Alain Hakim, Political Bureau members Rita Boulos and Lina Jalkh as well as the Kataeb Leader Adviser Ghassan Abou Jaoudeh.
