Kataeb Party Criticizes Ongoing Treason Allegations, Calls for Solidarity Among All Lebanese Against Sectarian Division and Hezbollah's Authority

The Kataeb’s political bureau held its weekly meeting under the chairmanship of Kataeb Leader MP Samy Gemayel. After discussing the latest developments, the following statement was issued:

1- Eleven months after Hezbollah dragged Lebanon into a support war that resulted in the destruction of southern villages, the burning of crops, the poisoning of soil with phosphorus for years to come, and the loss of more than 500 lives, it is now the legitimate right of the Lebanese people to question the purpose of this war. A war that has further crippled what remains of the economy, destroyed the tourism season, and left Lebanon in a state of dependency, seeking humanitarian and medical aid in anticipation of future conflict.

This faltering approach once again demonstrates that Hezbollah's decisions cater to Iranian demands, with Iran opting to distance itself from direct retaliation thus far, prioritizing its own interests in negotiations with those it claims as adversaries. This maneuver is aimed at securing its position as a major regional player and monopolizing the defense of the Palestinian cause as a new bargaining chip.

2-  The ongoing, unchecked campaigns of treason accusations against anyone who opposes the senseless war in the south or challenges Hezbollah's unilateral decisions, while adding a sectarian label, only deepen the divide among the Lebanese, fuel deadly sectarian tensions, and ignite divisive tendencies.

The Kataeb Political Bureau rejects this destructive approach, which ultimately condemns its proponents before anyone else. It reaffirms its commitment to confronting this strategy by all available means, alongside all free Lebanese citizens from every sect, region, and affiliation.

3-  The Kataeb Political Bureau also reviewed the familiar rhetoric surrounding the presidential file, including renewed calls for dialogue or consultation and the question of who would lead or manage it. This discourse, resurfacing to distract public opinion, overlooks the fact that the presidency, along with the country and decision-making, has been hijacked by Hezbollah. This file will only be released after Hezbollah has completed its regional and Lebanese military, political, and negotiation agendas.

The Kataeb Party warns against the ongoing distraction tactics and calls, if intentions are indeed sincere, for meeting the opposition halfway, at the very least by withdrawing the presidential candidate affiliated with one side. This step would pave the way for discussions on constitutional mechanisms to achieve a consensus candidate acceptable to all parties.

4- As the new academic year approaches, a majority of Lebanese families are finding themselves unable to enroll their children in schools, depriving them of education, a cornerstone of Lebanese society, that has been severely impacted by the country's collapse, for reasons that are now clear to everyone.

The Kataeb Political Bureau calls on school administrations and those responsible for the educational sector in Lebanon to continue their long-standing commitment to preserving Lebanon’s rich academic heritage. They are urged to be the driving force in shaping a generation of youth equipped with knowledge and education, who will be essential in rebuilding Lebanon's future.
