The Kataeb Party’s Political Bureau held its weekly meeting chaired by Kataeb Leader MP Samy Gemayel. After the meeting, the following statement was issued:
1-The Kataeb Political Bureau stressed that Lebanon had a real opportunity to reconstitute the executive authority starting with the election of a president and the formation of a government capable of holding reins of power despite the stressful circumstances, saying that the mistake committed in 2016 that led to the destruction of the country shall not be repeated.
It also considered that the country was divided into the State of Lebanon and the Mini-State of Hezbollah which is thriving on the wreckage of the Lebanese State while people are suffering from poverty and are asking for foreign aid.
The Kataeb Party considered that Hezbollah sought the election of a president who covers its composition and adjourns the problems caused by its illegal weapons and its loopholes for smuggling, saying that this issue cannot be overlooked as Lebanon is in dire need for a president who addresses all the issues immediately without postponing it to gain time.
2-The Kataeb Party called on the Interior Minister to attach importance on the municipal elections as the term of the municipal councils expires at the end of May and the electoral bodies are supposed to be called for election sessions two months before the end of the extended term, i.e, in March 2023.
3-The Kataeb Political Bureau also called on the Lebanese judiciary to take action in the issue of financial policies and useless circulars to protect the Lebanese, saying that Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh admitted that the Lebanese State is aware of dollar smuggling to Syria.
4-The Kataeb Party voiced its refusal over the way in which the parents of Beirut blast victims are treated, noting that those people are looking for justice that is confiscated by a group of people who agreed among themselves to cover up a crime committed against the Lebanese.
It also called on the Supreme Judicial Council to appoint Court of Cassation judges immediately by bypassing political pressure and interference and to conduct investigations into the Beirut port explosion in a bid to achieve justice , considering every judge who opposes the appointment of judges as partner in impunity.
