Kataeb Municipalities Department issued the following statement:

"Kataeb Municipalities Department calls on the Interior and Municipalities Minister Bassam Mawlawi to accelerate the preparatory measures for the municipal elections that will be held next May, saying that this entitlement will pave the way for the organization of local authorities’ work.

It calls on the deputies to carry out their constitutional relentlessly and elect a present without further delay so that legislative and executive institutions organize their work and be able to approve legal and necessary procedures to hold the municipal elections on time.

It considers that the failure to elect a president will disrupt the municipal elections, saying that the deputies will be responsible for the presidential vacuum and for the disruption of the legal municipal elections and for the violation of the democratic system."
