Kataeb Media Department condemned on Friday the intimidation and threats made against photojournalist Hassan Shaaban.

It emphasized that the strategy of intimidating the opposition in the face of the de facto forces, particularly in the South, had advanced to dangerous levels that could not be ignored and maintained without accountability.

" Instead of the death threat and eviction from the villages, the word and image transmission must be faced with deliberation and argument,” the statement read.

It urged the Lebanese State and the concerned security forces to take prompt action to identify and hold accountable individuals who are carrying out these bizarre threatening acts.

The Kataeb Media Department expressed, in the wake of today's atrocity, its complete solidarity with Hussein Shaaban, the photographer, and the press and media bodies who are being threatened and harassed.

It also declared its support for the move called for by the press body in front of the Ministry of Interior on Friday at noon, rejecting the policy of stifling freedoms and muzzling media.
