Kataeb Party leader and Member of Parliament Samy Gemayel on Friday sharply criticized Hezbollah, accusing the group of turning Lebanon into “an Iranian military base” and holding it responsible for the ongoing violence and destruction across the country.

“The real traitor and criminal is the one who turned Lebanon into an Iranian military base and carried out the Revolutionary Guard’s orders by opening a front here, sacrificing his homeland and people to serve the Iranian regime,” Gemayel wrote on X.

He held Hezbollah accountable for both the human and economic toll of the conflict.

“You are fully responsible for the tragedy we face today—death, destruction, bloodshed, grief, displacement, the occupation of parts of the south, and economic and social suffering on an unprecedented scale. And this seems only the beginning of the war,” he added.

Gemayel pressed for decisive measures to end the crisis, calling for the disarmament of Hezbollah.

“The only way to halt this national disaster immediately is to hand over or dismantle Hezbollah’s weapons,” he said.

“Only one thing is required: make the decision,” he concluded, directing his appeal firmly at the government.
