As tensions continue to simmer in southern Lebanon, attention is focused on whether the recently extended three-week ceasefire will hold or give way to a broader escalation.
On the ground, the Bekaa Valley saw relative calm on Tuesday after a night marked by intense Israeli airstrikes that continued into the early morning hours.
Israeli drones were also reported flying over Beirut, its southern suburbs, Mount Lebanon, the coastal city of Tyre, and several towns in the western sector earlier in the day, underscoring persistent aerial activity across multiple regions.
In southern Lebanon, an Israeli drone strike hit a motorcycle in the town of Majdel Zoun, leaving two people injured. Emergency teams transported the wounded to hospitals in Tyre. Separately, Israeli warplanes carried out three airstrikes beginning around 6 a.m. on the town of Zawtar al-Sharqiya.
Israeli forces also opened heavy machine-gun fire toward the Mahna district in the city of Bint Jbeil, further adding to the overnight escalation. Artillery shelling also struck the town of Qlayleh in the Tyre district.
Meanwhile, rescue teams continued search operations for missing persons following an Israeli strike on the town of Haris in the Bint Jbeil area.
On the Israeli side, the military said a soldier was seriously wounded and another lightly injured on Sunday after a booby-trapped drone fell in southern Lebanon. The two soldiers were evacuated to hospital, and their families were notified, the army said.
The Israeli military also reported that it had launched an interceptor missile at what it described as a “suspicious aerial target” detected in the operational area in southern Lebanon.
Israel Army Radio, citing a military source, said unit commanders operating in southern Lebanon are increasingly frustrated by what they described as the growing threat posed by Hezbollah drones.
In parallel, Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee published images and footage from southern Lebanon showing Israeli operations and the discovery of weapons and ammunition.
“Forces from the Infantry School Brigade under the command of the 91st Division in southern Lebanon have destroyed more than 1,000 Hezbollah infrastructure sites used to carry out attacks against our forces, including booby-trapped buildings and structures where combat equipment was found," Adraee wrote in a statement on X.
“The forces also uncovered hundreds of weapons, including machine guns, Kalashnikov rifles, hand grenades, mines, pistols, anti-tank missiles, RPG rounds, and mortar shells," he added.
The Israeli military also said it fired an interceptor missile at another suspected Hezbollah drone detected over an area of southern Lebanon where troops are deployed.
