Kataeb Delegation Attends CDU Conference

A delegation from the Kataeb Party participated in the annual conference of Germany’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU), where it held a series of meetings with senior German officials focused on bilateral ties and support for Lebanon as it navigates ongoing political and economic challenges.

The delegation included MP Elias Hankach, Political Bureau member Zeina Hobeika, Head of the Foreign Affairs Department Marwan Abdallah, and Elias Chebib representing the party’s Students and Youth Department. The group was accompanied by Christina Baade, head of the Beirut office of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

On the sidelines of the conference, the Kataeb delegation met with several CDU lawmakers, including Paul Ziemiak, Thomas Rachel and Jürgen Hardt. It also held talks with the German chancellor, congratulating him on his re-election with 91% of the vote in the party’s internal ballot.

The discussions focused on relations between Lebanon and Germany and the growing challenges confronting Lebanon. Talks addressed Germany’s role in supporting Lebanon on issues of security and sovereignty, including continued backing for the Lebanese Army, as well as assistance aimed at advancing economic reforms and promoting recovery.

The visit also provided an opportunity to review and strengthen ties between the Kataeb Party and the CDU, highlighting ongoing cooperation between the two political parties.
