Lebanon’s judiciary on Thursday pressed ahead with investigations into the unauthorized projection of images of Hezbollah’s slain leaders Hassan Nasrallah and Hashem Safieddine onto Beirut’s Rawshe Rock, a move carried out in defiance of a government ban.
The National News Agency reported that two men were questioned under the supervision of Public Prosecutor Judge Jamal Al-Hajjar. One was released on residency bail, while the other, identified as the owner of the laser device used to beam the images, remains in custody pending further investigation.
The incident, which took place last week, sparked political controversy after Prime Minister Nawaf Salam had issued a circular prohibiting the use of public landmarks, heritage sites, and national symbols for partisan or political purposes.
Authorities said three more individuals have been summoned for questioning on Friday as part of the probe.
