Israel’s Katz Holds Lebanon’s President Directly Responsible for Upholding Ceasefire

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned on Friday that his country would not allow threats to emerge against its citizens, holding Lebanon’s head of state responsible for enforcing the ceasefire agreement with Israel.

“We will not budge from our policy of maximum enforcement and will not allow threats to arise against the residents of the north and all citizens of Israel,” Katz said in a statement.

Addressing Lebanon’s president, Joseph Aoun, Katz said Israel viewed him as “directly responsible for enforcing Lebanon’s sovereignty and upholding the ceasefire agreement” with Hezbollah.

Katz also vowed that Israel “will not return to the reality of October 7” and pledged that the Israeli military “will continue to respond forcefully to any violation.”

Earlier, the Israeli army said its fighter jets struck an active Hezbollah military outpost and underground infrastructure near Beaufort Castle on Beaufort Ridge.

“The presence of the site and the activity at the site constitute a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon,” the military said.
