Israeli Strikes Hit Lebanon-Syria Border Crossings

Israeli warplanes targeted key border crossings between Lebanon and Syria on Saturday, with Lebanon's National News Agency reporting airstrikes on the Matraba crossing along Hermel’s northern border with Syria, as well as the Jermash border crossing in Lebanon’s Bekaa region.

The airstrike on the Matraba crossing reportedly killed two Syrian soldiers and wounded five others on the Syrian side, according to the National News Agency.

The porous Lebanon-Syria border has long been a crucial transit point for weapons, fighters, and military supplies from Iran and Syria to Hezbollah. Cross-border supply chains provide a lifeline for Hezbollah, especially as it continues its tit-for-tat exchanges with Israel amid rising tensions.
