Israeli President Isaac Herzog denied his country's involvement in the recent pager attacks that targeted Hezbollah members in Lebanon, saying he “rejects out of hand any connection” to this operation.
Speaking to Sky News channel, Herzog said Israel is not interested in war with Lebanon, noting, however, that the country has been hijacked by Hezbollah, which has been 'been armed to its teeth by the Iranian Empire of Evil.'
"Hezbollah is choking Lebanon, destroying Lebanon, and creating chaos in Lebanon over and over again," Herzog stated, underscoring that Israel's actions are solely aimed at defending itself.
"Israel is not interested in war with Lebanon. We do not want to enter into a war with Lebanon, but Lebanon has been hijacked by a terrorist organization, Hezbollah."
Herzog further elaborated on the necessity of proactive measures for national security.
"We make it clear that we must act, just as any normal country would, like Britain or any other sovereign nation, to defend its people," he asserted.
The Israeli president acknowledged that Israel is in a "dangerous situation," noting that there is a clear possibility of significant escalation.
To emphasize the ongoing threat posed by Hezbollah, Herzog displayed a photograph released by the Israeli army, which depicted the military leaders of the group, particularly those who were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Beirut on Friday.
