Israeli Army Unleashes Airstrikes on Southern Lebanon Following Hezbollah Retaliation

In a sharp escalation of tensions following Hezbollah's retaliation in northern Israel, Israeli forces launched a series of aggressive airstrikes across southern Lebanon, targeting areas north of the Litani River and within the border zone.

According to local reports, the Israeli military has carried out approximately 60 airstrikes using both warplanes and drones, striking valleys, hills, and the outskirts of several villages.

The intensity of the bombardment has resulted in casualties and significant damage.

A member of the Amal Movement was killed in the town of Khiam, while a Syrian boy and two others were injured in Tayr Harfa. These figures were confirmed by the Public Health Emergency Operations Center, affiliated with Lebanon's Ministry of Health.

The airstrikes have also caused extensive material damage, particularly to homes, vehicles, forests, and agricultural areas. The Israeli military appeared to focus its attacks on locations it believes to be Hezbollah strongholds.

In addition to the targeted strikes, the Israeli army implemented a broad belt of fire, with airstrikes hitting predominantly forested and open areas. The bombardment affected multiple towns, including Kounine, Rshaf, Tayr Harfa, Hadatha, Beit Yahoun, Aita al-Jabal, Haris, Yatar, Sha’m, Zibqine, Qana, Wadi Al-Azziyeh, Al-Khardali stream, Wadi Al-Slouqi, and Khiam. Strikes also targeted areas near Qalaat al-Shaqif, Zawtar, and several locations in Iqlim al-Tuffah and Jabal al-Rihan, including the outskirts of Ain Qana, Kfarfila, Al-Louayzeh, Bsalya, Kfarmalki, Wadi Al-Dalafeh, Marakeh, and the Al-Dabbakeh neighborhood in Mais Al-Jabal. The outskirts of Naqoura were also hit.

Throughout the night and into the early hours of the morning, Israeli reconnaissance aircraft hovered over villages in the western and central sectors of southern Lebanon, reaching as far as the outskirts of the city of Tyre and the coastal area extending to Sidon. During this period, the Israeli army also fired flares over border villages adjacent to the Blue Line, further heightening tensions in the already volatile region.
