Israel Shifts Focus to Northern Front Amid Rising Hezbollah Threat, Says Defense Minister

Israel is shifting its strategic focus from the Gaza Strip to its northern border as it prepares for a potential escalation with Hezbollah, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced on Tuesday.

“Our center of gravity is moving from south to north,” Gallant stated during a visit to the 36th Division in northern Israel, highlighting the gradual shift in Israel’s military priorities.

“We are in a gradual change; we have more tasks in the south, including the critical mission of securing the release of hostages. Negotiations are ongoing, and I believe we will succeed in achieving results, which is of paramount importance.”

The Defense Minister emphasized Israel’s commitment to ensuring the safety and return of residents displaced by the conflict, particularly those in the north.

“We want to return the displaced residents to the north safely. If it is possible to do this through an agreement, we will pursue that path,” Gallant said. However, he issued a stern warning that Israel would take decisive action if necessary, underscoring the nation's readiness to respond to any threats from Hezbollah.
