Iran Launches Massive Missile Attack on Israel

Iran has launched hundreds of ballistic missiles into Israel, prompting widespread emergency measures across the country. Warning sirens blared as Israeli civilians were ordered to seek refuge in bomb shelters, with sirens sounding in key cities, including Jerusalem.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it has launched hundreds of ballistic missiles against Israel in retaliation for the assassination of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, and IRGC General Abbas Nilforushan.

It has also threatened that Israel will be targeted again in a “more crushing and ruinous” way if Israel retaliates.

Israeli army spokesman, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, vowed his country will respond to the missile attack, affirming that Iran's action "will have consequences."

“We have plans, and we will act in the time and place that we choose,” he stated.

Iranian state TV claimed that 80% of the around 200 missiles launched at Israel hit their targets.

On the other hand, a spokesperson for Israel's emergency response service said that no injuries were reported, except for two light injuries from shrapnel in the Tel Aviv area and some minor injuries nationwide while moving to safe spaces, as well as cases of anxiety.

The Israeli military has responded by ensuring civilians are safely sheltered, while air defense systems have been activated to counter the barrage. Almost an hour later, the Home Front Command issued a message letting civilians know that they can leave bomb shelters.

President Joe Biden ordered U.S. military forces in the region to help Israel's defense against the Iranian attack and shoot down the missiles, the White House said, adding that Biden was monitoring the attack from the Situation Room in the White House, alongside his vice president, Kamala Harris.
