Hezbollah Launches Rocket Strikes on Haifa as Group Vows "New Phase" of Conflict

Hezbollah ramped up its attacks on Israel on Friday, hours after the group had declared it was moving to a new and escalating phase in its war against Israel after the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

Early this morning, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for firing a "large rocket salvo" at the Israeli settlement of Zevulun. This followed Israeli reports about the interception of several rockets over Haifa Bay. The Israeli Home Front Command confirmed that air raid sirens were activated across Acre, Haifa Bay, and large areas of the Galilee region, signaling an intensification of hostilities.

Israeli media reported that around 15 shells were launched from southern Lebanon toward western Galilee.

In response, Israel conducted retaliatory strikes in southern Lebanon as the National News Agency reported intermittent Israeli artillery fire on the outskirts of the Lebanese towns of Maroun al-Ras and Yaroun. Israeli airstrikes also targeted the villages of Jabshit and Harouf.

In addition, the towns of Ansar and Doueir, located in the Nabatieh district, were struck by two Israeli airstrikes. Around 4 a.m., an Israeli drone launched a guided missile strike on the town of Kfar Rumman. The town had already been hit earlier by two consecutive airstrikes before midnight. Other targets included the outskirts of Ayta al-Shaab near the town of Dibel and the village of Haneen.
