Israeli airstrikes struck Beirut’s southern suburbs and multiple areas across southern Lebanon early Friday, as the military escalated operations against Hezbollah and issued fresh evacuation warnings to civilians.
Without prior notice, Israeli warplanes launched a pre-dawn strike on Beirut’s southern suburbs near Rafik Hariri International Airport, firing three missiles, according to Lebanese media and official reports.
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency said Israeli aircraft carried out the raid at dawn on the Tahwitat al-Ghadir area. Preliminary information indicated the strike hit a residential apartment in a building, while Al-Hadath television described the attack as a possible assassination attempt.
Hezbollah later imposed a security cordon around the targeted building, according to Al-Hadath. The densely populated district has largely been emptied of residents since hostilities escalated, and there were no immediate reports of casualties. Although Israel has previously issued broad evacuation warnings for the area, no specific alert was given ahead of Friday’s strike.
In southern Lebanon, Israeli operations continued overnight and into the morning. Shortly after midnight, an Israeli drone struck the home of a resident, identified as Hassan Karim, in the Kassaret al-Sanobar neighborhood of Kfar Rumman.
At around 6:00 a.m., Israeli warplanes carried out another strike on an open area in the same town. Additional air raids targeted a house in Hanine and a building in the Ameriyeh area near Qlayleh along the Tyre–Naqoura road.
Israeli artillery also shelled several areas, including the outskirts of Dibil and Qawzah, the entrances to Beit Lif, and areas around Naqoura and Hamoul. Earlier at dawn, multiple villages in the western sector came under heavy artillery fire. Airstrikes on Friday also hit the towns of Mansouri and Haris.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese Army has reportedly repositioned its forces at the Khardali checkpoint at the entrance to southern Litani in the eastern sector. Local media outlet Al-Akhbar reported that the army is preparing to redeploy at the Kafra checkpoint following Israeli movements toward Beit Lif and the neighboring Wadi al-Ayoun area from the south.
Earlier, the army evacuated its Model Regiment center in Sarbin as Israeli forces advanced toward Wadi al-Ayoun via Dibil, in a precautionary measure to maintain control and safeguard personnel.
Amid the intensifying campaign, the Israeli army issued a new evacuation warning for residents of the southern village of Sejoud. The military’s Arabic-language spokesperson said Israeli forces were preparing to operate against Hezbollah targets in the area, urging civilians to leave.
