Hezbollah Defies State with Provocative Rawshe Rock Display of Late Leaders

Hezbollah supporters on Thursday defied a government ban by projecting images of the party’s late secretaries-general, Hassan Nasrallah and Hashem Safieddine, onto Beirut’s Rawshe Rock, turning the anniversary of their deaths into a provocative spectacle.

The display included laser projections of the two leaders’ faces, with Hezbollah’s Head of the Liaison and Coordination Unit, Wafiq Safa, telling supporters on-site: “We came to light it up.”

Additional projections featured Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri alongside Nasrallah, and videos circulating on social media showed the Hezbollah flag raised on Rawshe Rock. One projection controversially combined images of Nasrallah with Rafik and Saad Hariri, despite Rafik Hariri having been assassinated by a party-linked operative.

The event sparked tensions with Lebanese security forces. Footage from the site showed a heavy army presence aimed at preventing clashes with participants.
