A Lebanese security man shot and killed his wife and mother-in-law before committing suicide in their home in Jezzine, south of Beirut.

The man was in his forties and from the town of Azour.

Preliminary information indicates that the harsh living conditions experienced by the family, especially the father who works in the public sector, may have been the reason for the crime.

The couple had three children, two boys and a girl, who were in the house during the crime.

The perpetrator had been consuming alcohol recently, according to his son's statements.

The incident has shocked the city and its surroundings, with some blaming the suffocating Lebanese economic crisis for the tragedy.
