Kataeb Lawmaker Elias Hankach noted that "the U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein listened for the first time to the voice of the opposition in Lebanon, based on his belief that there is another opinion in the country, and it represents the majority of the Lebanese."
"The necessity for the official opposition to unify their position based on their vision for Lebanon’s benefit and their representation of a large section of Lebanese who want the decision of war and peace to be in the hands of the state and the army, and not in the hands of any party in Lebanon," Hankach said in an interview with Voice of Lebanon radio station.
He explained that "Israel’s only goal is to protect the settlers and their return to northern Israel, which does not constitute the most important goal for the Lebanese, who believe that the most important thing is to keep Lebanon away from further destruction, killing, and economic losses."
Hankach noted that "the opposition agrees on the same approach, and was clear regarding separating Lebanon from what is happening in Gaza. It also affirmed its political and diplomatic support for the Palestinians and also for the Palestinian cause, and the necessity of separating the Gaza war from major Lebanese concerns such as the presidency and the full implementation of UNSC Resolution 1701, including its clauses, and the implementation of UNSC Resolutions 1680 and 1559."
