Kataeb Lawmaker Elias Hankach said that new fires had broken last night and the Civil Defense firefighters were able to contain it earlier this morning. 

“We, lawmakers, should propose draft amendments to the Law on environmental protection like increasing penalties, imprisonment, and inflicting fines,” Hankach tweeted. 

“Local authorities or municipalities shall be stricter in safeguarding and protecting forests,” he added.
