Hankach Deems Roumieh's Fires as Planned Sabotage

Kataeb Lawmaker Elias Hankach on Wednesday said that the fire emanating from Roumieh to Ain Saadeh was neither a coincidence nor an accident.

“What happened is sabotage deliberately planned to detriment the most beautiful region in Lebanon and we will deal with it,” Hankach tweeted.

The fire broke out in the Roumieh forest –Metn highway on Monday, and the Civil Defense firefighters were able to contain it after painstaking efforts.

Similarly, the Civil Defense announced on Tuesday that fires erupted around the Metn Highway up to Roumieh forest and in areas different from where it had ripped on Monday.

The Civil Defense recruited reinforcements from seven centers to besiege the fires in Roumieh forest and prevent it from spreading despite the difficulty to access the area where it had originally erupted due to the lack of passages.
