Gunshots Fired at Kataeb Headquarters in Saifi

Yesterday, unidentified gunmen opened fire at the Kataeb Headquarters in Saifi, downtown Beirut.

Kataeb Leader Samy Gemayel, sent a voice recording reassuring the party's supporters, confirming that there were no injuries or damages and that the matter is now in the hands of the security forces.

Commenting on the shooting incident at the Kataeb Headquarters, Kataeb Secretary-General Serge Dagher told "Al-Jadeed": "The message has been received. We've been receiving messages for a while now. I believe our political stance bothers some people, which is why we are receiving messages in different ways, and I think their aim is security pressure."

"I believe the message is also directed at the security agencies, meaning that even in the height of security measures, you will not be able to do anything," he added.

"We will not exaggerate; the message has been received, and our stance is firm and will not change," Dagher noted.

For his part, Kataeb Vice President Bernard Gerbaka told "Voice of Lebanon" radio station: "Violence and threats yield no results and will not silence the free voice and sovereign efforts."

"They will not prevent citizens, people, and parties from demanding sovereignty, freedom, the restoration of proper constitutional institutions, and the election of a president," he added.
