Gemayel Warns of Possible Assassination Wave, Urges State to Dismantle Hezbollah's Security Network

Lebanese Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel warned of a possible new wave of assassinations, drawing parallels with the killings that rocked Lebanon between 2004 and 2008 and urging the State to dismantle Hezbollah's military and security infrastructure without delay.

In a post on X, Gemayel recalled that a truck carrying explosives was not stopped in 2005, a failure he linked to the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

“We don't need to ask what Hezbollah members intend to do with the explosives they are transporting. The most likely scenario is a wave of assassinations like the one Lebanon witnessed between 2004 and 2008,” Gemayel wrote.

He argued that delays in implementing state decisions and enforcing the law posed a direct threat to civil peace.

“The failure to enforce decisions and uphold the law is what puts civil peace at risk,” he said.

Gemayel called on the Lebanese State to act immediately to dismantle Hezbollah's military and security apparatus, warning that the country could otherwise once again pay the price of terrorism.

“The State must immediately begin dismantling Hezbollah's military and security infrastructure before we all pay the price of terrorism again,” he said.
