Kataeb Leader Samy Gemayel stressed the importance of electing the right president, saying that the past six years were worse than a presidential vacuum.

“We need to elect a president who will solve the country's problems, regenerate the State and reconcile the Lebanese with each other. The upcoming president should not waste time or postpone any issue as the country is on the brink of total collapse,” Gemayel said after receiving MP Michel Mouawad at the Kataeb Headquarters in Saifi.

“We have our candidate for the presidency, so let the others kindly nominate someone,” he noted.

“We are intensifying our coordination with the parties to find the necessary solutions to elect a president for the republic as soon as possible,” he concluded.

For his part, MP Michel Mouawad said :“We are in the midst of a political battle to save the sovereignty of the country, the State and its institutions from the collapse and corruption, and to restore people's dignity and confidence in the country and its economy."

“We should elect a sovereign and a reformist president. I am a candidate based on a political approach and a road plan that tries to bring together all spectrums of the opposition,” he affirmed.

The meeting was attended by MP Nadim Gemayel.
