Gemayel Renews Call for State Monopoly on Arms, Warns of Perils of Parallel Weapons

Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel reiterated his call for exclusive state control over all weapons in Lebanon, warning that the continued presence of arms outside state authority has repeatedly drawn the country into wars and obstructed its recovery.

Speaking to Egypt’s Al-Ahram newspaper, Gemayel said that Lebanon cannot rebuild or achieve lasting stability as long as non-state groups maintain their own military capabilities, stating that parallel arms are obstructing the country's reconstruction and development.
