Israel Launches New Airstrikes on Southern Lebanon After Evacuation Orders

The Israeli military carried out a new wave of airstrikes across southern Lebanon on Thursday, hours after ordering residents in several villages to evacuate, in what it described as a campaign targeting Hezbollah positions.

The strikes were launched shortly after evacuation warnings were issued to residents of Taybeh, Tayr Debba, Aita al-Jabal, Zawtar al-Sharqiya, and Kfar Dounine.

The Israeli military claimed the targets were linked to Hezbollah’s “military infrastructure” and accused the group of violating the ceasefire agreement brokered in late 2024.

Israeli government spokeswoman Shosh Bedrosian defended the operation, saying Israel was acting to “ensure the ceasefire is upheld.”

“Israel will continue to defend all of its borders and we continue to insist on the full enforcement of the ceasefire agreement,” she said. “We will not allow Hezbollah to rebuild.”
