Gemayel Meets with Durel in Paris

Kataeb Leader Samy Gemayel held talks with French presidential advisor for near eastern affairs, Patrick Durel, at the Elysée.

"We did not dwell on names for the presidency of the republic. There was a French proposal in that respect and we had to clarify that if we all bow to Hezbollah's conditions once again, any president, prime minister or minister will have to wait for (Hezbollah's) blessing before assuming their responsibility," Gemayel said in an interview with MTV.

"We made it clear that it was impossible to submit to Hezbollah's terms and conditions," he affirmed

"The French are not willing for any action that goes against Lebanon's interest. The issue is not related to the names nominated for the presidency but more as what we want from the presidency," he added.
