Gemayel, Frem Seek to Expand Electoral Alliance in Jounieh

Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel met with MP Neemat Frem at his office in Bikfaya to discuss key political and developmental issues, with a focus on the upcoming municipal and mayoral elections. The meeting was also attended by Kataeb MP Salim Sayegh.

Following the talks, Frem described the discussion as "highly significant," emphasizing the strength of the existing electoral alliance in Jounieh.

“Our goal is not just to sustain this coalition but to expand it into a broader consensus,” he said. “The current alliance—comprising the Kataeb Party, the Lebanese Forces, Mansour El-Bon, and us—remains strong. Our shared priority is advancing development, economic growth, urban planning, and social cohesion in Jounieh. That’s why our doors remain open to everyone.”

Frem warned that development efforts had stalled due to shifting national priorities but stressed that the coalition could serve as a model for broader change.

“We believe this team can carry a new message from Jounieh to the rest of Lebanon,” he said. “We have the resources and expertise—whether in environmental initiatives, craftsmanship, technology, or professional skills—to launch a true renaissance. This can set a precedent for progress across the country.”

He also highlighted infrastructure development as a key driver of economic recovery, pointing to Jounieh’s port as a major opportunity.

“There has been talk about reopening Qlayaat Airport, and while that’s an important initiative, we believe development should start in Jounieh by reopening its port before the summer season,” Frem said. “We are just 200 kilometers from Europe and have the potential to attract millions of tourists by sea. Completing a dedicated tourism port within two years would be a major step forward.”

Expressing appreciation for his longtime ally, Kataeb MP Salim Sayegh, Frem stated, “Together, we are working for Jounieh, Keserwan, Byblos, and all of Lebanon, driven by our commitment to the public good—something we consider an honorable duty in service of our people.”
