As part of ongoing efforts to bring weapons under state control and disarm Palestinian camps, the Fatah movement on Tuesday handed over its second batch of medium-sized arms from the Ain al-Helweh camp to the Lebanese army.
Colonel Abdulhadi Al-Asadi, director of public relations and media for the Palestinian National Security Forces in Lebanon, said the handover also included the fifth batch of heavy weapons belonging to the Palestine Liberation Organization. The operation took place in Ain al-Helweh, in the southern city of Sidon, and follows earlier transfers conducted under a broader Lebanese-Palestinian agreement.
“This step implements the joint presidential statement issued by Presidents Mahmoud Abbas and Joseph Aoun on May 21, 2025, and forms part of the work of the Lebanese-Palestinian committee tasked with monitoring conditions in the camps and improving living standards,” Al-Asadi said.
He added that the initiative highlights the depth of Palestinian-Lebanese cooperation and reflects a shared commitment to strengthening security, promoting stability, and preserving fraternal ties between the two peoples.
The shipment, transported on five trucks, included both small and medium-sized arms. The handover was carried out via a side route between Jabal al-Halib and the Seroub area, following the same procedure used during the first delivery on September 13, 2025.
