Families of Beirut Blast Victims Call for Accountability

The Association of the Families of Beirut Blast Victims condemned those involved in jeopardizing the victims’ lives, vowing to tirelessly pursue justice and ensure accountability for all the parties involved in the deadly explosion.

During their monthly stand-in at the statue of the Immigrant in Beirut, the association highlighted the unbearable conditions imposed by the current system, saying that living under the authority of controlling rulers, who manipulate the state’s mechanisms and judiciary, is intolerable.

“It is unacceptable for Beirut blast case to be lost in the corridors of politicians who are accustomed to obscuring the truth to protect their own interests,” the families said.

The spokesperson for the  Association of the Families of Beirut Blast Victims, Ibrahim Hoteit, underscored the fact that no arrests have been made in connection with the case, even after a period of thirty-two months since the tragic event.

Hoteit urged a renewed focus on the investigation to uncover the truth, expressing criticism towards Investigating Judge Tarek Bitar.
