Dagher Addressing Voters:  Cast Your Votes in the Upcoming Elections to Achieve Change

Kataeb Secretary General Serge Dagher on Tuesday deemed Presdient Michel Aoun’s era as the worst era in the history of the Lebanese Republic, citing Aoun's own words when he said that the Lebanese are heading to hell.

“Whoever elected President Aoun and worked on approving the electoral law brought us here, so everyone is responsible. This electoral law gave the majority for Hezbollah,” Dagher said in an interview with SBI.

“Many slogans were used in the past elections including “You are liars” … At that time, people believed that the lira was fine, the Free Patriotic Movement would make reforms, the arrival of General Michel Aoun to the presidency would benefit the country, the ships were the solution to the problem of electricity, landfills were an excellent solution, and that the performance of the Governor of the Banque du Liban was good, while we were saying that he was committing fraud against the lebanese people,” he noted.

Dagher called on the Lebanese people to cast their votes and express their opinions on May 15.

“If you want to achieve change and recover your money, you have to cast your votes against this ruling elite,” he added.

“We, as the Kataeb party, do not use big slogans. We are running for the elections based on a written program and our slogan is “No Compromise”,” he noted.

“The Lebanese forces is allied with the Progressive Socialist Party, the Progressive Socialist Party is allied with Berri, Berri is allied with Hezbollah, and Hezbollah is allied with the Free Patriotic movement, so is the Lebanese Forces part of the system?” he asked.

“The formation of the front after the elections will be on time. The most important thing is to reach the parliament with the largest number of change figures,” he affirmed.

“There is an international conflict in the region and there are Arab-Iranian, and American-Iranian negotiations, and what is happening in Ukraine will end with a settlement, and we are heading towards a new stage,” he added.

“Whoever tried to enter into a settlement with the Free Patriotic Movement paid the price. In the end, whoever concludes a settlement with the Free Patriotic Movement,  is concluding it with Hezbollah,” he added.

“I choose Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel and Army Commander General Joseph Aoun for Presidency. Gemayel does not present himself as a candidate for the presidency and whoever wants to reach the presidency must be in harmony with Hezbollah and General Joseph Aoun is not part of the opposition and the military institution is not within the system. General Joseph Aoun annoys Hezbollah and is likely to arrive to the presidency,” he stressed.

Dagher considered that the speech delivered by Hezbollah does not serve it rather harms it, saying that Hezbollah considers itself the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon as it is part of the Revolutionary Guards, which has branches in Lebanon, Iraq, Syria and Yemen.

“Hezbollah's weapons and hegemony will not remain, and this party will not hold control over Lebanon,” he stressed.

“Hezbollah is the armed militia and the mafia is the people who ally with it,” he pointed out.

Dagher said that he prefered vacuum over the presidential settlement.

“The Kataeb party has officially said that it will not elect Michel Aoun as a President. It will not elect a president from March 8 camp and from the opposition axis neither now nor after 100 years, and there are people who do not want to understand this matter,” he emphasized.

The Kataeb Secretary General deemed Aoun and Bassil as two sides from the same coin.

“Many are trying to distance President Aoun from any responsibility. We believe that Aoun is the partner of Gebran Bassil,” he affirmed.

Dagher deemed the Kataeb party as the only democtratic party in Lebanon.

“The Kataeb party is the only party that holds elections every 4 years and people who do not belong to “Gemayel” family are the ones who punish the leadership of the party. Samy Gemayel was elected as leader of the party through elections,” he added.

“Negotiations are held in a real democratic way on the table of the political bureau, and many files could be dropped by voting," he concluded.
