Caritas Volunteers Detained and Questioned by Hezbollah in Beirut Suburbs

A team of volunteers from the Caritas charity organization was reportedly detained by Hezbollah’s security apparatus while carrying out humanitarian efforts in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

According to sources speaking to kataeb.org, the team was actively providing aid to local residents when Hezbollah's security personnel apprehended them. The volunteers were subjected to an hours-long interrogation by an individual identified as "Abu Ali."

Following the interrogation, the sources confirmed that Hezbollah's security apparatus returned the volunteers’ phones.

Caritas Lebanon is a prominent humanitarian organization that operates in the country, providing a wide range of social services to vulnerable populations, including refugees, the elderly, the disabled, and the marginalized. Part of the global Caritas network, which is rooted in Catholic values, the Lebanese branch focuses on offering emergency aid, medical assistance, education, and psychosocial support.
