Israeli Soldiers and Civilians Injured as Border Conflict Escalates

On Thursday, a missile struck an Israeli military base in the Yaar area of western Galilee, causing several injuries among soldiers, with some in critical condition.

Simultaneously, reports emerged of severe injuries caused by a drone explosion in a building in Yaar. The explosion has led to substantial damage and a significant fire. The Israeli Army confirmed that firefighting teams are currently working to contain a blaze that erupted in Beit Hillel as a result of the drone strikes.

In a series of retaliatory measures, an Israeli drone launched an airstrike on the outskirts of the town of Odaysseh, southern Lebanon. Additionally, an artillery shell landed on the Al-Aweida hill, further escalating the tension in the area.

Amid escalating tensions, Israeli forces have intensified their operations on the border with Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah positions in a series of airstrikes. This escalation follows a significant attack on Hezbollah's communication devices earlier this week, which resulted in numerous casualties and injuries among the group’s members.

The Israeli military confirmed on Thursday that overnight airstrikes hit multiple Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon, including the areas of Chihine, Taybe, Blida, Mays El Jabal, Aytaroun, and Kfarkela. Additionally, a Hezbollah weapons storage facility in the Khiam region was also struck.

The decision to ramp up military operations comes after Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced that the "center of gravity" in the ongoing conflict was shifting to the north, a statement echoed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli army Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi. Israeli Army Radio subsequently reported that combat forces have been redeployed from the West Bank to the Lebanese border in preparation for potential escalations.

On the Israeli side, five civilians were reported injured following shelling on the "Tel Hai" settlement, west of Kiryat Shmona, in Israel’s Upper Galilee. Meanwhile, Hezbollah launched guided rockets near the border, leading to the death of at least one Israeli soldier and the injury of several others. Israeli media later reported that the number of casualties from Hezbollah’s anti-tank missile attack in the Galilee Panhandle had risen to eight.

In retaliation for Hezbollah’s attacks, the Israeli military responded by shelling the outskirts of Ayta Al-Shaab and Ramyah, using both phosphorus and smoke bombs. Bombardments also targeted the Katmoun area and the outskirts of the border town of Rmeish.
