Hakim: Tyrants Will Fall, and Lebanon’s Fight Far from Over

Kataeb Party Political Bureau member and former Minister Alain Hakim commented on the fall of the Syrian regime, pledging continued fight for Lebanese sovereignty and steadfast commitment to freeing those still detained in Syrian prisons.

“Every tyrant who has violated Lebanon’s sovereignty and freedom will fall,” Hakim wrote on his X account, emphasizing that Lebanon’s struggle for justice is far from over. He specifically highlighted the case of Lebanese detainees in Syrian jails, particularly the long-held prisoner, Boutros Khawand, as a central issue.

“Our cause will never end as long as our prisoners, notably Boutros Khawand, remain separated from their families, and Lebanon’s sovereignty is at stake,” he added.

Hakim underscored that the Lebanese resistance draws its strength from the legacy of martyrs like Bashir Gemayel, the Lebanese president-elect assassinated by Syrian-backed forces, and the countless other freedom fighters who have given their lives for Lebanon’s independence.

“We draw our strength from the spirit of Bashir Gemayel and our martyrs," Hakim asserted. "As we believe in justice, we know that the truth is beginning to return.”

The former minister also made a pointed remark about the individuals and groups who had contributed to Lebanon's suffering during the Syrian occupation, vowing not to forget those who helped perpetuate injustice.

“We will not forget those who contributed to the oppression and benefitted from it,” Hakim said, alluding to the political and military entities that enabled Syria's control over Lebanon.
