President Joseph Aoun met with the Deputy Regional Director of the World Bank for the Middle East and North Africa, Ousmane Dione, who affirmed the international financial institution's commitment to supporting Lebanon's reconstruction efforts.
"The World Bank will stand by Lebanon to support its efforts in reconstruction and recovery," Dione reportedly said during his meeting with Aoun at the Baabda Palace on Wednesday.
President Aoun highlighted Lebanon’s resolve to implement the reforms needed to tackle its economic challenges, reaffirming the country’s commitment, as stated in his inauguration speech.
Aoun emphasized that one of the first priorities of the upcoming government will be to begin drafting the legal frameworks required to move forward with these reforms.
In a broader context of international relations, President Aoun also received a letter from Indian President Droupadi Murmu, delivered by Indian Ambassador Mohammad Noor Rahman Shaikh. The letter expressed India's eagerness to enhance bilateral relations with Lebanon, signaling its growing interest in deepening its engagement with Lebanon.
