The United States is preparing a new round of sanctions targeting Lebanese security and administrative officials over allegations that they facilitated the operations of Hezbollah’s Unit 900, Lebanese political sources told Al-Hadath.
According to the sources, the expected measures would focus on individuals accused of enabling the group’s logistical and operational activities within state institutions. They said Washington is also reviewing separate files involving the Council for the South, amid allegations that the body has been used to channel salaries to Hezbollah members.
The sources added that U.S. authorities are further examining claims that the Council for the South assisted Hezbollah in constructing military installations in southern Lebanon and the western Bekaa region.
In parallel, they said an investigation is also underway into allegations that certain facilities belonging to the Lebanese University were used by Hezbollah’s Unit 900.
