Speaker Nabih Berri on Wednesday slammed US Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control’s sanctions on Hezbollah-affiliated lawmakers, Amine Sherri and Mouhammad Hasan Raed, and on senior party official, Wafik Safa.
“Has the US democracy started assuming and enforcing contraventions on the world’s democracies?” Berri said in an issued statement, considering that such an act is a coerced attack on the Lebanese Parliament and on all of Lebanon.
“I urge the Inter-Parliamentary Union to take the necessary measures regarding this inappropriate behavior,” Berri condemned.
