UNIFIL: Naqoura Headquarters Targeted in Rocket Attack, Likely Fired by Hezbollah or Affiliated Group

On Tuesday afternoon, a rocket hit the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) headquarters in Naqoura, causing a fire in a vehicle workshop, as reported by UNIFIL.

"At the time of the attack, peacekeepers were not in their bunkers. While some personnel sustained minor injuries, fortunately, no serious injuries were reported," stated UNIFIL.

The rocket is believed to have been launched from north of UNIFIL's headquarters, likely by Hezbollah or an associated group.

In response, UNIFIL has initiated an investigation into the incident.

UNIFIL stressed the necessity for all parties, including Hezbollah, to fulfill their responsibilities in ensuring the safety and security of U.N. personnel and assets.

It reiterated that any intentional assault on U.N. forces represents a grave violation of international humanitarian law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
