American nationals will have to apply for a new type of visa to get into European countries starting January 2021.
The visa, known as European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS), will be valid for multiple entries over a period of three years. It will apply to 22 countries in the Schengen areas.
“Applicants will need to fill out an online form with their contact details and passport information as well as answer some basic security questions,” ETIAS Visa website stated, noting that a valid passport is required, as well as a credit or debit card, and an email address.
Americans currently do not need a visa to access Europe for a visit of less than 90 days.
