Gemayel Criticizes Poor Support for Sports in Lebanon

Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel on Sunday criticized the government for not having a strategy or a future vision for sports in Lebanon, voicing regret that the budget allocated to the Sports Ministry will witness further reductions.

“Unfortunately, there is no strategy or future vision for sports in Lebanon. We hope that the government would give more importance to this field,” Gemayel told LBCI as he was attending the opening ceremony of the Sumayya Slim Sports Complex in Bickfaya.

The opening was also attended by former President Amine Gemayel and his wife Joyce, as well as the mayor of Bickfaya, Nicole Gemayel.

Gemayel stressed that it is not the responsibility of private companies to provide financial support to the sports field in Lebanon, adding that it is rather the duty of the state.
