Sleiman Frangieh Withdraws Presidential Candidacy, Endorses General Joseph Aoun

Head of the Marada Movement, Sleiman Frangieh, issued the following statement:

"With the necessary conditions for electing a President of the Republic now in place for tomorrow, and given the developments, I hereby announce the withdrawal of my candidacy, which was never an obstacle to the electoral process.

While extending my gratitude to all those who voted for me, I reaffirm—consistent with my previously stated positions—my support for General Joseph Aoun, who possesses the qualities needed to uphold the stature of the presidency. I wish the Parliament success in the electoral process and hope that the nation will navigate this phase with unity, awareness, and responsibility."
