Oil Importers Suspend Supply Over Failure to Adjust Customs Tariffs

Lebanon’s oil-importing companies have suspended the delivery of gasoline and diesel fuel, citing the Lebanese Customs Administration’s failure to adjust import tariffs in accordance with a new pricing schedule issued by the Ministry of Energy and Water.

The updated pricing table, released last Friday, came after the State Council had accepted an appeal challenging the fuel tax. The ruling effectively overturned the controversial levy, prompting the Ministry to revise the official pricing structure for petroleum products.

However, Voice of Lebanon radio reported that the Customs Administration has yet to implement the changes, leaving a gap between the Ministry’s pricing and the fees being charged at customs. The discrepancy has led oil importers to suspend fuel deliveries until the tariffs are formally updated, warning that continued inaction could disrupt supply across the country.
