Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly willing to offer captors of hostages in Gaza “several million dollars” for each hostage's release, The Times of Israel reported, citing an Israeli official.
In addition to financial incentives, Netanyahu is prepared to guarantee “safe passage” out of Gaza for the captors and their families if they agree to release hostages, the official revealed. This proposal was discussed during a meeting on Sunday concerning hostages.
The official also acknowledged a statement from the US State Department on Monday, confirming that Hamas had rejected a proposal for a short-term ceasefire and a hostage release deal.
“Nothing is happening on the ground until we know the results of the US elections,” the official stated, suggesting that the political landscape could influence the dynamics of the ongoing conflict and negotiations.
