Nadim Gemayel Calls for Gathering to Mark End of Dark Era

Reflecting on the fall of the Syrian regime, known for its oppressive rule and for the assassination of Lebanese leaders, Kataeb MP Nadim Gemayel issued an invitation for the Lebanese to gather later today to mark a significant moment in the region's history and the end of a dark era.

"On the occasion of the fall of the tyrants of Damascus, the killers of presidents and freedom fighters, President Bashir Gemayel invites you to celebrate with Lebanese flags at Sassine Square on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at 7:00 PM," he wrote on his X account.

Bashir Gemayel’s assassination in 1982 by Syrian-backed factions remains a symbol of the country’s struggle for independence and sovereignty. With the fall of the Assad regime, many in Lebanon see it as a long-awaited victory and a moment of closure.
