Bickfaya Mayor: Waste Sorting Is a Duty, Not a Choice

Bickfaya Mayor Nicole Gemayel on Saturday took pride in the breakthrough achieved through the Bi-Clean sorting facility established in 2015, saying that the Metn village took action instead of waiting for others to bring forth solutions.

In an interview on Voice of Lebanon radio station, Gemayel stressed that waste sorting is a duty not a choice, saying that it's application in every household is key to solving the garbage problem.

“When the garbage crisis started in 2015, we didn’t wait for anyone to help us find a solution. In fact, it was an impromptu decision to start sorting in a bid to ease the problem,” she said.

Gemayel thanked Environment Minister Fadi Jreissaty for his efforts to make a change by looking for sustainable health solutions, saying she is happy that he visited the Bi-Clean facility earlier this week.
