Minister: Qlayaat Airport Tender to Be Finalized in First Quarter of 2026

Public Works and Transport Minister Fayez Rasamny announced Tuesday that the long-delayed Qlayaat Airport project is expected to move forward in early 2026, with the tendering process slated for completion within the first three months of the year.

Speaking after a meeting with President Joseph Aoun at Baabda Palace, Rasamny confirmed that the file has been formally transferred to the newly created Civil Aviation Regulatory Authority, which was appointed through the Civil Service Board.

“The authority now carries significant responsibilities, first and foremost the Qlayaat Airport project, alongside the expansion of Beirut International Airport,” Rasamny said.

He added that the ministry’s priority is to “enhance aviation safety and security, increase the capacity of Lebanon’s airports to meet the needs of the tourism sector, and attract more visitors to help stimulate economic growth.”
